Lauren’s Enchanted Ball on July 16 was held on behalf of Lauren McManaway, who died of a rare type of ovarian cancer at the age of 8. The Legacy Strongheart foundation, which sponsored the ball, is a nonprofit organization helping to raise awareness for children and young adults with mental and physical illnesses and disabilities. The goal is to bring happiness and help to children and young adults affected by these factors. The staff is all volunteer. The money raised from the ball was donated to the family of Eli J Boda of Columbus, who died from cancer Feb. 14 at age 13. His family intends to use the money on a small vacation, much needed after losing their son. In the photo, Eli’s mother, Pearl Boda, is surrounded by volunteers of the Enchanted Ball.
