Piatt Castle hosts free outdoor events

WEST LIBERTY – The Mac-A-Cheek Foundation at Piatt Castles offers two late summer programs on the lawn at Mac-A-Cheek Castle. Both programs are free. Shakespeare on the Lawn

Friday, Aug. 25, 7:15 p.m.

The Bespoke Theatre Company of Dayton will perform The Merry Wives of Windsor, a comedy by William Shakespeare, at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25, on the lawn at Mac-A-Cheek Castle. Those attending are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs for this informal, outdoor performance.

The Merry Wives of Windsor features the character of Falstaff, whose quest for a wealthy wife results in complex disguises and misadventures. Enjoy the fun in an outdoor setting. The play will be cancelled in case of rain.

Heritage Day – World War II

Saturday, Sept. 9, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

The fourth annual Heritage Day will be held free on the grounds of Mac-A-Cheek Castle on Sept. 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Greater Ohio Living History Association, WWII US Mech Forces HQ will return for a program called GIs and Jerry, Life at the Front. The program focus will be on how the troops lived on the front lines during the Moselle campaign in France in the fall of 1944. The event will be held rain or shine

Veterans from any war will be given free admission to tour Mac-A-Cheek Castle that day 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Regular admission fees apply to all others who wish to tour the historic house museum.
