Fido’s Swimfest is Sunday

0

The Champaign County Citizens for Canines (CCCC) will host the fourth annual Fido’s Swimfest on Sunday, Aug. 20, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the city pool in Melvin Miller Park. The dog days of summer are upon us, so it’s time for water-loving dogs to hit the pool in celebration. Off-leash dogs will have the run of the pool for the afternoon with activities for their people.

The annual event is a fundraiser to support the upkeep and enhancements to Fido’s Field Dog Park, located in Melvin Miller Park. This year Swimfest will include Big Willie’s food truck and a photo booth sponsored by McAuley Center with photo opportunities for both humans and canines. Many vendors and pet-related organizations will be available with freebies while they last.

The Awesome, Incredible and Spectacular Raffle will be held with opportunities to win gift certificates, pet supplies, jewelry and other items of interest to both pet owners and non-pet owners. Tickets will be available for purchase at $2 each or six tickets for $10.

Everyone is invited, even if you don’t have a dog or if your dog is not a water-loving dog. Watching dogs swim and play is fun and stress-relieving. Stop out and enjoy some laughs. Admission is free for all.

CCCC can be reached on Facebook at Fido’s Field or by phone at 937-478-0848, for anyone with questions.
