Motorists injured in Memorial Day crash

WESTVILLE – Two people were injured in a collision between a car and a motorcycle in the 4000 block of U.S Route 36 near state Route 560 at 10:21 a.m. Monday.

The trauma victims, motorcycle driver Matthew Hughes and his passenger Melissa Slaughter, were airlifted via CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. Information on their age, residences and conditions was not available.

The driver of the car, Clyde Cupps, was not injured but was cited by the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office for failure to yield.

Along with CareFlight, Urbana Fire Division and Champaign County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene.
