Champaign County Fair Queen applications are available at the county Extension office in the county Community Center on South Main Street in Urbana, as well as at Vernon Family Funeral Home locations in Urbana, Mechanicsburg and North Lewisburg.

Applications must be postmarked by June 26 and sent to: Champaign County Fairgrounds, Attention Fair Queen Committee, P.O. Box 38157, Urbana, OH 43078.

Applicants must be single, childless females over age 16 and not over age 20 as of Jan. 1, 2017. They must be active in 4-H, Girl Scouts, FFA or FCCLA. They must live in Champaign County, attend a Champaign County school or have attended a Champaign County school.

Contestants will be judged on “Community Service, Scholastic Involvement, Knowledge of Current Events, Personality, Essay, Appearance and Presentation of One’s own self.”

Champaign County Fair queens attend various functions throughout the year, such as parades, banquets and meetings.

This year’s county fair will be held Aug. 4-11.
