Indian Lake offers annual Beach Spectacular and loads more summer fun

0

There’s always something fun going on at Indian Lake. Back in the day, Indian Lake was called the “Million Dollar Playground” and I say that still rings true today. Even though the days of the Sandy Beach Amusement Park are long gone, the area is still packed with tons of fun things to do.

So switch your clocks back to “Lake Time” this weekend, mark your calendars and head over to Indian Lake soon to have some fun. I guarantee you’ll feel like a million bucks if you do!

Below are some upcoming fun events at Indian Lake:

June

Enjoy bicycle rides of 15, 30 and 60 miles around the Indian Lake area on June 10 at the “Indian Lake Fireworks Fund Ride.” This organized ride is only $25 and includes a T-shirt and food.

Craft vendors, cars, tractors and antique cars will all be on display on June 24 in downtown Lakeview at the Lakeview Car and Craft Show.

July

The month of July kicks off with the “Beach Spectacular” which includes a car show, pageants, fireworks and much more. All festivities start at noon on July 1st at Old Field beach and the fireworks commence at 10 pm.

Also in July is “Putt Around the Lake” on the 8th, the “Vintage Boat and Auto Show” on the 15th, and the “Light up the Lake Boat Parade and Glow Party” wraps up the month on the 29th.

August-September

August is also packed full of fun activities starting off with the “Harborfest 5K Run” on the 4th followed by both “Harborfest” and “Rock the Beach” on the 5th. The “Art of the Beach” event will run for 2 days, August 5-6.

The festivities culminate for the summer with “Party at the Beach” on August 12th at Old Field Beach, “Indian Lake Lions Club BBQ Dinner” on the 20th, and the popular “Ring of Fire” on September 3rd.

The 1960’s singing family band, “The Cowsills” popularized the lake and nailed it right on the head with their 1968 hit single “Indian Lake.” That song says it all, and captures the true spirit of Indian Lake. The hit single reached number 10 in the charts in the USA , number 3 in Canada and number 1 in New Zealand and to this day Indian Lake has been and will continue to be a very popular and fun place to be!
