The Champaign Soil and Water Conservation District will conduct an annual Planning and Local Work Group meeting at 7 p.m. on May 22 in the auditorium of the county Community Center, located on South U.S. Route 68, Urbana. The purpose of the meeting is to pull together agencies and individuals with a variety of expertise and knowledge and gather input to address natural resources issues and set priorities for the district. A goal is to guide SWCD’s federal partner, the Natural Resource Conservation District, by gathering input for Local Work Group planning.

While Local Work Group membership is limited to federal, state, county, tribal and local government representatives familiar with agriculture and natural resources interests, the public may attend and is invited to participate and provide input on local conservation issues and resource challenges. LWGs support locally led conservation efforts by coordinating U.S. Department of Agriculture programs with other conservation programs in an effort to provide an integrated solution to addressing natural resource concerns.
