Basketball tourney to benefit Champaign Family YMCA and Project Woman

The Champaign Family YMCA will present a one-day charity event to benefit YMCA programs and Project Woman initiatives.

The Champaign Family YMCA 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament will take place on Saturday, May 20, at the Y, 191 Community Drive, Urbana.

The tournament format will allow teams a minimum of four games along with double elimination brackets, and also feature free throw and 3-point shooting contests between games for a $5 buy-in (cash payout to winners).

Age groups have been established for the tournament as follows: 10 years & Under, 14 years & Under, 18 years (or in HS) and Under, 35 years & Under, and 36 years and up. Girls’/Women’s divisions will be added if sufficient teams enter; co-ed teams accepted. Each participant will receive a T-shirt, and trophies will be awarded to the winning teams.

Food will be available for purchase from Dine & Dash Food Truck in the Y’s parking lot during the tournament.

Participants can register teams in person at the Champaign Family YMCA. Forms and more information is available at the Y Welcome Center and at www.champaignfamilyymca.org. The cost is $75 per team (up to five players per team). Registration fee is due at time of registration. The registration deadline is May 17. Brackets and complete schedule for team match-ups will be on the Champaign Family YMCA website by May 19, 2017.
