In anticipation of the arrival of World War II era B-25 bombers in Urbana, Champaign County Historical Society president Dan Walter will present a program outlining the history of the U.S. Navy Privateers.

First featured will be the ships who fought in the Revolutionary, 1812, and Civil Wars. He will then fast-forward to the Privateers who flew some of the largest bombers of World War II, the PB4Y-2’s, out of Clark Field in the Philippines. Walter will relay personal stories relayed to him by one of those pilots, his father, Lt. jg Joe Walter. In addition, 42-year Navy veteran, Edwin Corwin, will be on hand to share his experiences flying in PB4Y-2’s and later planes.

The event is free and open to the public on Sunday, April 9 at 2 p.m. at the Champaign County Historical Society, 809 E. Lawn Ave., Urbana.
