The Urbana University Music Programs will present a season finale “Spring Showcase” on Thursday, April 20, at 7 p.m. in the Hub at Urbana University. The event will feature three ensembles and multiple Urbana University student musicians.

Audience members will be seated at tables and provided snacks to enjoy the performance in a more comfortable setting. Music will be provided by the University Singers concert choir, the Chamber Winds and the Percussion Ensemble. There will be a collection of styles and genres performed by all three ensembles.

“This concert will be accessible to everyone, whether you normally attend concerts or not,” said Director of Music Bridget Olenik. “The atmosphere will be more casual, and the audience will get to experience chamber music in a more intimate setting with the performers within an arm’s length from the front row.”

From hauntingly beautiful choral music to invigorating percussion music with nontraditional instruments, there isn’t a dull moment in the program.

Under the leadership of Olenik, the University Singers, Chamber Winds, and Percussion Ensemble all consist of students of varying disciplines on campus. The accompanist for the University Singers is Julie Gallagher, and the Chamber Winds is assisted by Urbana University Controller Ellen Clapp on clarinet.

While there is no charge for the performance, donations will be accepted to help offset costs of the program. The suggested donation is $3 per reserved seat. Seating is limited and will be based on a first come, first served basis. Seats can be reserved in advance until Tuesday, April 18, at 5 p.m. by emailing [email protected] or calling 937-772-9354.
