The Mechanicsburg FFA held the annual homecoming pork loin dinner on Friday, Sept. 16. The FFA opened up their shop to feed the community. Senior members made crafts to sell at the dinner. The purpose for the dinner is for the FFA boosters to raise money for projects throughout the year. Once again approximately 500 people attended the dinner.

On Friday, September 16, the Mechanicsburg FFA Chapter held their first meeting of the school year. High school members along with the new middle school members attended the meeting. This was the largest recorded FFA meeting in Mechanicsburg with attendance of 124 members.

33 members of the FFA competed in the county soil judging contest. At the contest the judgers evaluated the quality of the soil to determine whether the land would be suitable for rural purposes or urban purposes. The rural team finished first in the contest and the team of Emily Wilson, who finish first, Alex Walton, Miranda Lauchard, and Ben Stroud attended the district contest. Bella Link, Tyson Adams, Noah Wolf, and Gloria Terry from the urban judging team also competed at districts on Tuesday, September 27th.

On September 28, 2016, five members of the FFA attended the Ohio FFA Legislative Leadership Conference at the statehouse in Columbus, Ohio. At this conference FFA members got the chance to role play being lobbyist who were trying to persuade legislators to support their bill. This conference teaches our members how to advocate for agriculture. At the end of the conference the FFA members were able to enjoy a meal with various state representatives.
