WOODSTOCK – The Village Council is once again six members strong following Mayor Jackie Hayes’ swearing in of Melinda Current on Oct. 10.

Current will serve out former council member Tony Groves’ elected term, which expires Dec. 31, 2017. Groves resigned in February after stating he was moving from the village. He was replaced in March by Jody Riegler, who resigned in September for the same reason.

Also during the meeting, Fiscal Officer Tom Hallinan updated council on the status of future audits and the village’s current electric bill.

According to Hallinan, the village has been grouped into the Champaign-Clark Village Pool by the state of Ohio for upcoming audits through 2020.

He said the pool includes the villages of Mechanicsburg, Christiansburg, Enon and Donnelsville.

To conduct the audits, he said, the state auditor’s office has elected to use an independent public account firm. Several firms are expected to submit their proposals, and the village will be given the opportunity to weigh in during the evaluation process.

Hallinan also reported on the village’s electricity costs, which are on their way down.

He said the village’s September electric bill was $653.60, the lowest it’s been in over a year and $100 less than last September’s bill. Hallinan credited the savings to the fact council agreed in July to a new 12-month electricity supply agreement with GDF Suez Energy at a rate of 5.68 cents per kilowatt-hour.

In other business, it was announced Beggars Night in the village will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31.
