Champaign County Sheriff Matthew Melvin urges caution on roadways this holiday season

0

Champaign County Sheriff Matthew Melvin and his deputies remind everyone that this is the time of year when roadways become more crowded and dangerous. He says the National Safety Council considers this the perfect time for drivers to make sure they and their vehicles are ready for holiday travel. Recommendations for drivers and passengers include:

1. Never drink and drive.

2. Always buckle up.

3. Inspect your seat belt – and your child’s car seat – for proper fit.

4. Plan trips when your focus and energy are greatest.

5. Listen to your parents.

“While these safety reminders may seem obvious, I can’t stress them enough,” Melvin states in a news release. “Ensure this holiday season is a safe one by reminding yourself and others to always follow these simple and safe rules.”
