ST. PARIS – Niven Jester beat out Terry Ervin II for a St. Paris Village Council seat in the county Board of Election’s recount of ballots Tuesday. The totals of 294 for Jester and 292 for Ervin were identical to the official results of the Nov. 3 election issued Nov. 17.

Tuesday’s automatic recount of votes garnered by the two council members occurred because the difference between 294 and 292 votes is less than one-half of one percent.

Former village street commissioner Tyler Adkins was the highest vote recipient for a seat on council, garnering 346 votes, according to the Nov. 17 official results. St. Paris voters also re-elected Mayor Joseph Reneer.
