Champaign County residents can see an estimate of how much a levy would cost them using the levy calculator on the Champaign County Auditor’s website.

Champaign County Auditor Karen Bailey said with a number of levies on the ballot this fall, property owners may be bewildered about the total impact on their property tax bills. Political subdivisions are asking residents to approve 12 different levies on Nov. 8.

“Local schools, government agencies and media generally do a good job informing voters about the cost of each individual levy to property owners, but it’s up to the voters to put it all together to understand the total expense,” Bailey said.

Property owners can get this information by going on the website and searching for their property. After finding their property, citizens should click the “Tax” tab and then click the pink box to view the levy calculator.

Another window should pop up and provide an estimate for the levies that apply to the parcel.
