COLUMBUS – Two local students have been selected to join this year’s All-Ohio State Fair Band and All-Ohio State Fair Youth Choir.

Triad High School’s Garrett Smith, playing baritone saxophone, was chosen to join the band, and West Liberty-Salem’s Isaac Loffing, a Tenor 2, was chosen to join the choir.

The band, comprised of high school students, learns more than 50 pieces of concert music to prepare for the fair and their traditional performance of John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever!” which closes each of their performances. Once the fair opens, the choir sings six to eight concerts a day, marching up to 10 miles a day to various performance sites around the 360-acre Ohio Expo Center.

The band and choir also will perform a free concert at 1 p.m. on July 31 in the WCOL Celeste Center.
