A man who was sent to prison in May for drug charges was indicted last week for alleged bond violations.

Michael A. Fisher, 28, currently of the Correctional Reception Center, Orient, was indicted Thursday for one count each of escape and tampering with evidence, both third degree felonies, stemming from alleged conduct while the previous criminal case was pending.

Fisher was sentenced to 16 months in prison on May 18 after pleading guilty to one count each of possession of heroin and aggravated possession of drugs.

Fisher was originally charged with possession of heroin, aggravated possession of drugs, possession of drugs, possession of marijuana, possessing drug abuse instruments and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia stemming from a Feb. 20 incident where the Urbana Police Division recovered drug items from a vehicle he was riding in.

Prior to sentencing, the court revoked Fisher’s bond during a March 22 case scheduling conference but granted him the ability to be released on electronic monitoring on March 24.

A journal entry ordering a capias warrant states on March 25 the court was advised that Fisher allegedly violated the conditions of his release from the Tri-County Regional Jail by traveling to multiple unauthorized locations upon his release from jail, removing the electronic monitor bracelet from his ankle and failing to return to the jail.

The grand jury indictment contends Fisher hid the monitoring device in a bathroom and then failed to return to the jail as ordered.

The journal entry ordering a capias also noted the court learned Fisher may be facing criminal charges for conduct while out on release from jail related to theft at a Logan County Wal-Mart and for fighting police officers at or near the same location.

According to the Logan County Clerk of Court’s website, Fisher is currently facing felony charges of identity fraud, illegal conveyance of drugs onto grounds of detention, aggravated possession of drugs and theft in the Logan County Common Pleas Court.
