MECHANICSBURG –The cause of a tractor fire Wednesday is under investigation, according to the Mechanicsburg Fire Department.

Mechanicsburg Fire Lt. Matt Bebout said the department received a call at 10:25 a.m. on a report of a tractor on fire next to a garage at 1367 S. Parkview Road. Bebout said when fire personnel arrived the tractor was engulfed in flames. The fire was under control within minutes of their arrival.

While no damage estimate was given, Bebout said the tractor was a total loss. He added no damage was done to the residence as the flames were contained to the tractor and the garage siding.

No injuries were reported. Bebout said no one was present at the time of the fire. The property is owned by David and Amy Salyers according to the Champaign County Auditor’s website.
