ST. PARIS – A black BB gun pistol was taken into custody, along with at least one juvenile Friday at Graham Middle School.

St. Paris Police Sgt. J.Z. Wilkson said police were dispatched to the school around 12:16 p.m. Friday, May 20, on a report of a possible weapon at school. The report came from concerned students and school officials.

The pistol and the juvenile suspects were “quickly located and recovered” without incident, Wilkson said.

Graham Interim Superintendent Matt Curtis said in a press release the gun was located by administrators in a trash receptacle. The student who brought the BB gun didn’t threaten anyone with it, and there were no injuries.

Parents and guardians were notified that afternoon by Graham officials, Curtis said. The district is not naming the student, citing federal and state law.

School officials are reviewing discipline options for the student involved, which can lead to suspension or expulsion, Curtis said.

St. Paris Police are working with the prosecutor to determine if criminal charges will be filed, Wilkson said.
