Sweet Pea is a pretty, black Pug. She is 4 years old and as sweet as her name indicates. We recently rescued Sweet Pea from a puppy mill. At first, she may be a little timid with people but soon warms up. Sweet Pea is great with children and indifferent to cats. She can be somewhat of a bully with other dogs at feeding time. As with most of our puppy mill dogs, she requires a patient person willing to work with her on her house-training skills. As with all Champaign County Animal Welfare League (CCAWL) pets, Sweet Pea is completely vetted before adoption. Included in the $130 adoption donation is spaying/neutering, vaccinations including rabies, worming, heart-worm testing and treated with flea and heart-worm prevention. CCAWL adopted dogs are all micro-chipped and have their 2016 dog license and dental cleaning. If interested in visiting Sweet Pea or any adoptable pets at CCAWL, please call us at 937-834-5236. We are located at 3858 SR 56, Mechanicsburg, OH, 43044. Our hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. We are closed Tuesday and Sunday. If later hours are needed, appointments are available. Dog and Cat adoption applications can be found online at www.champaigncoanimalwelfareleague.com. You may fax an adoption application to 937-834-5171. A complete listing of our available pets may be found at www.petfinder.com and www.adoptapet.com. CCAWL has memberships available that will allow a member access to the many wooded trails, agility course and ponds on the 72 acres. CCAWL will also have a dog park, cemetery to spread ashes of deceased pets, several picnic areas and a track for those who do not or cannot walk the trails. Members also receive a 10 percent discount on all sterilizations as well as training classes offered. Just a reminder, because of the mild winter, we are in a prolific flea and tick season. Be sure to have your pets protected. CCAWL is accepting applications for motivated volunteers who would enjoy a variety of responsibilities at our rescue. If you are interested, please come out in person during our business hours and fill out an application. Volunteers are required to attend a short training session and safety class and must be at least 16 years old.
