MARYSVILLE – According to information released by the Union County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday afternoon, a 30-year-old Bellefontaine man is allegedly responsible for a fictitious bomb threat that closed the Marysville Honda automobile manufacturing plant on Wednesday. The threat also caused a ripple effect of production disruptions at Honda suppliers in the area.

Jeffery H. Martinez, age 30 of 505 Columbus Ave., has been charged with one count of inducing panic, which is a third-degree felony. He was booked into the Tri-County Regional Jail in Mechanicsburg on Thursday afternoon.

Martinez is reportedly a contractor of NEX Transport, Inc. He is alleged to have left a written threat on a bathroom wall at the Honda plant.

Martinez is scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning in Marysville Municipal Court.
